Weather the Storms is
the true story of an ordinary boy and his extraordinary dog. Living in
Maine during the Great Depression of the 1930s, Lawrence and Shep face a
time of upheaval and challenge. When Lawrence's father is hired to fill
a sudden job opening as keeper at Hendrick's Head Light on Southport
Island, the family is forced to leave their comfortable life behind and
face an uncertain future. As a puppy, Shep flies with famous aviator
Charles Lindbergh and his wife Anne. As a lighthouse dog, his remarkable
canine senses lead to the rescue of a young couple in trouble on the
sea, earning him a bronze medal.
During this
coming-of-age story, the strong bond between boy and dog proves to be
the only stable thing in Lawrence's world. His journey to adulthood is
interwoven with the events of the time, including the triumphs and
tragedies of the Lindberghs and the intriguing legend of The Lady Ghost
of Southport, as well as the unique life of living at a lighthouse.
